Dear Will of Teanck, NJ,

On Sunday we will launch and land from Plum beach, which is in the bay and
does not have any surf. You can simply wade out and get in your boat when
it's already floating.

When we surf on the sandbar near Breezy Pt it is a sandbar in a small tide
race far from shore. The waves break on the bar, and after your ride you
are back in deep water. If the swell was really big its possible to damage
the boat and/or your body by hitting the sand, but you can easily avoid
that by not surfing in the big waves. Last time most people didn't go in
the surf zone, because it was fairly intimidating. The surf area is only a
few hundred yards square. If we do a beach landing out on the point for
lunch it will be in a protected area in the lee of the breakwater.
