Hi Joy,
Thanks.
Kayaking in Cape Breton is wonderful and there is a BCU outfitter called
Coastal Adventures located in Nova Scotia and their website is:
http://www.coastaladventures.com/
When we took our day trip on the Saint Lawrence Seaway, we all wore wet
suits or dry suits (I prefer a dry suit) as the water temperatures were a
frigid five degrees Centigrade. But it was worth it as we were rewarded with
saw a pod of blue whales.
The air temperature on the Saguenay was in the 70s and 80s when we took our
trip and the water temperature is comfortable on the upper reaches of the
river. At the end of the trip, when you approach the St. Lawrence, the water
gets colder, but since we didn¹t actually go in the Seaway on the Saguenay
trip we never wore wetsuits, although we all brought some sort of
protection. I brought some dry pants and a dry top. I only wore the pants
one day, when we had thirty knot winds with higher gusts. Otherwise the
waters were fairly calm.
Also the pictures don¹t show the beluga whales that we saw in the Saguenay.
They actually came up to our boats and even nudged them a bit. Very curious
and playful animals, particularly after they have finished feeding.
I hope you are having fun in Canada. Take Care,
David
