NYCKayaker:
Today you can read in the news an account about James Kim, a man who
left his vehicle and family to go and try to find help.
http://news.com.com/2009-12-6141617.html?tag=nl.e540 Heroic effort and
noble, but, he died nonetheless. He was found approximately one mile
away from the car with a trail of clothing found on the ground.
(paradoxical undressing?)
If you read these articles then you may appreciate what happened and how
to protect yourself if you are out on the water or exposed during the
Winter. They may just help you.
It is ten years now since it was published, but it is a good article.
_*As Freezing Persons Recollect the Snow--First Chill--Then Stupor--Then
the Letting Go*_ ... The cold hard facts of freezing to death by Peter
Stark http://web.outsideonline.com/magazine/0197/9701fefreez.html
There is an interesting story (somewhat informative) about hypothermia
in the January, 2003 issue of Outside magazine, found online.
