hi bonnie-
just wanted to clarify something in your post:
" . . .the last Advisory Council meeting where the barge was discussed, I
heard about after the fact. The results were fantastic, nothing to complain
about there (if I've got this right, the Trust is supporting paddling
continuing at the barge the way it always has, and that's awesome - now it's
up to the DEC, I for one wrote my letter as requested!),..."
you have it nearly right with an important distinction: the hudson river
parl advisory council unanimously passed a resolution for the council to
make a recpmmendation to the Trust (that is the nature of the council's
relationship to the trust--they make recommendations) that the Trust support
John Krevey's permit amendment application which he submits to the DEC who
does the permitting.
i actually went to the HRPT board meeting yesterday to make sure that there
was some mention of this and there was. the board heard the recommendation,
a written copy of which i assume was in their board package (which i, as a
public attnedee, did not receive) and a copy of that recommendation will be
cc'd to the DEC. the Trust, at the meeting, did not comment on the
recommendation.
so we hope they heed the advisory council's recommendation and support the
permit changes, but that is not garunteed.
so if you havent already written your letters of support (as bonnie, many
other individuals, many important organizations, etc have done), its not too
late to make a difference.
if anyone wants the info and addresses re-posted here please let me know.
thanks!
nancy
