NYCkayaker Jeff Hoyer ashes and memorial concert

Hi All,

A few kayakers attended the informal memorial for Jeff Hoyer earlier
this evening. We mixed in with his wider circle of musician friends --
he took up paddling about six years ago, and was an accomplished trombonist.

Jeff's very loving girlfriend, Brenda, will hold onto most of Jeff's
ashes. His sisters also asked that a portion of them be cast over a
place he loved to paddle. Mo has kindly offered to bring some to some of
the quieter places they enjoyed together. I know Jeff loved to guide the
marathon swimmers in their Manhattan circumnavigations (indeed, we had
fun razzing each other this past summer throughout the race), but if
someone knows of a particular spot in New York Harbor he loved, please
pipe up. Actually, maybe at the kayaker gathering before the race?

Also, his friends wanted to get the word out that a memorial concert
will be held on January 20, location to be announced, depending on
expected attendance.
