NYCkayaker brooklyn jet ski death, Re: Nonswimmers and PFDs

I thought it was a given that jetskiers wear PFDs.  I don't recall ever
seeing one without.  They have tended to have a better record of wearing
PFDs than kayakers and certainly canoiests.  Their ads always have the rider
(and passenger if there is one) with PFDs on, unlike paddling magazines
which still have paddlers sans PFDs in many of their ads.   The jetskier's
PFD, with its multi webbing straps and impact protection, are looked at as
sexy and part of the jet ski mystique.  Those kids in Brooklyn clearly don't
read nor share the jet ski culture.
