Hi All,

As I mentioned earlier, the LIC Community Boathouse will be sharing a
circumnavigation of Manhattan this Saturday with NASA astrobiologist
David Grinspoon. He's a fascinating person and while he won't be
delivering anything like a formal lecture, capable paddlers with
scientific interests might enjoy conversations with him greatly en
route.

As always, our trips are free.

I'm also happy to announce that the Home for Water has confirmed that
he's giving a talk on July 18! Details below:

Is Earth the unique "water world" of our solar system or are there
hidden seas, even living oceans, awaiting our discovery on nearby
planets and moons? What can we learn from the Orion Nebula, where
enough water is produced each day to fill Earth's oceans 60-times over,
about our own origins in a cosmic cloud? Might comets and water-laden
meteors spread life from planet to planet? What is yet to be uncovered
about the role of water in the universe?

Astrobiologist David Grinspoon has dedicated his life to exploring these
and other profound questions. The Home for Water, headquarters for the
coming New York Museum of Water, is proud to invite you to share an
evening with this creative explorer. Dr. Grinspoon plays a leading role
in the Venus Express mission of the European Space Agency, and a coming
NASA rover mission to Mars. He is also the Carl Sagan Medal-winning
author of "Venus Revealed" and "Lonely Planets: A Natural Philosophy of
Alien Life."
