NYCkayaker Swim support for Triathlon vis a via DTBH

I think Paul Amico and Sue Ellen have already posted info about swim
support for the New York City Triathlon, but I wanted to add some info
about the Downtown Boathouse, and how we can help.

If you want to help out please contact Paul Amico, paz764 at aol.com  or
201-538-0246, and let him know. Paul will be picking up boats and driving
them up to 79th St on Saturday. He may be able to pick-up from multiple
locations, but will definitely pick-up from the Downtown Boathouse.

If anyone wants to drop off a boat earlier by car or water they can leave
it at the Downtown Boathouse at Pier 96, 56th St. for a few days. If you
do this be sure you put a label on the boat that says its a PRIVATE boat
for the Triathlon. Put as much of your stuff as you can inside the hatches
or inside the cockpit.

Paul will making a pick-up at the Boathouse around 5:00PM on Saturday
7/15. Since the Boathouse is so close to the 79th St a number of us are
just going to paddle up on Sunday morning. If you want to leave your boat
at the Downtown Boathouse anytime this week and paddle up on Sunday please
be at the Boathouse by 5:00AM we will leave at 5:30AM. The current will be
against us, but there are a lot of eddies so we should be able to make it.
We will have a number of experienced expert paddlers available to help
guide and if necessary tow people.

If anyone wants to borrow a boat Paul has some sit on tops that can be
made available. Contact Paul and just tell him you want to borrow a boat
and he will bring one to the Triathlon for you.

For directions to the Downtown Boathouse at Pier 96 see:
www.downtownboathouse.org. Please pay special attention to the car drop
off directions. The parks police are very aggressive and will ticket you
if you drive on the bike path. The Downtown Boathouse is open 9AM-6PM
Saturday, and 5PM - 7PM on Thursday and Friday.
