I am a member of the NY Kayak Co boathouse on Pier 40. Storage facilities are very good and safe with 24/7 access to your boat. In my estimation, best part is the convenient access to the ramp and floating dock. The embayment is well protected, good for practicing skills. And the pier is not crowded. I like that. Definitely recommend that you visit NY Kayak Co and meet Randy Henriksen, owner of the boathouse and store.

For those that are ACA members and get the free  paddler magazine p20 of
the July August 2006  issue has a article about a former NYC paddler
Shane Braddock. He and partner Ray Fusco were crossing  from Croatia to
Italy but were threatened with apprehension "due to soviet style
obstinacy" two miles from Italian waters and were referred to as "the
criminal and traitors to the Croatian state"  
He's a good swimmer too!

I have wanted to get storage space for a yet to be purchased kayak  
and was wondering if anyone has any hands on experience with NY Kayak  
and Hudson River kayak as far as storage facilities go.

My husband Tony and I paddled over from Hudson to Athens late this afternoon to see how the GHRP 2006 group had fared on this warm, humid day.  We found them having refreshments at the waterfront and followed them over to a fine dinner at Ursula's.  We can confirm that spirits were high and folks were having a very good time.  There's no doubt that the group has bonded and several of the guides commented enthusiastically about this year's group.

Tomorrow morning they will set off for a 17-mile day to Saugerties, so if you're in the neighborhood, get out your kayak and paddle along or give them a wave.
