Indeed, indeed! Been thinking along those lines myself. Those dry suits are depressingly unflattering. Don't know about viable but a tiny niche exists. Maybe, when I tire of juggling capital for institutions, might dip into this business...

Pier 96 was open for less than one month of the 2005 season. At Pier
40, a remarkable percentage of the people who came out onto the Pier
stopped to try the kayaks, whether they knew we were there or not,
problem is, not that many people come out that loong, unshaded concrete
gangplank. I don't think we have any hard numbers on male:female
ratios, but subjectively its a lot more female, at this casual level. I
think a lot of them fall away when they get a look at the dorky clothing
involved at the more advanced levels. There might be a small, but
viable market for more flattering women's kayaking attire. (uplift PFDs?)

Also, looks like Pier 40 really pulled in the crowds, for even though it operated for less than 40% of the time, the density of use (per weekend day, lets say) was more than 52% of Pier 96. By next season, this location will probably lead again.
