FYI - Floyd Bennet Field has a VERY Large Boat ramp, if you want to call it that. A large concrete ramp, several hundred feet wide - as I remember it while paddling past, was built during WWII to allow "Flying Boats" Sea Planes to launch and land at F.B. Field. It was one of the largest, if not the largest sea plane launching sites in the Eastern United States. The ramp has not been kept up and is cracked and has some grass growing over parts of it. Its certainly suitable for kayak landing though.

Hi,
Is anyone paddling to Floyd Bennett Field tomorrow? I think they have a boat
launching ramp
there. I Googled Floyd Bennett Field recently. I was surprised at how many
historic flights
started or terminated there--piloted by the likes of John Glenn, Emelia Erhart,
Howard Hughes and
others.
