Nancy:
Thanks for pointing out the HRPAccess group. I didn't know of it till now.
Please send me info on people who are creating access to the Harlem River (other than Harry Bubbins and Friends of Brook Park, whom I already know). Do you know of anybody working on access at Roberto Clemente Park? There are two excellent launch points there, but I never see anybody using them.
You mentioned Inwood Canoe Club, of which I am a member. Here is basic information about us, and I am happy to answer follow-up questions off-list: We are always looking for new members, but our membership cycle has ended for this year (exceptions can be made in special circumstances). Our prices are $250 a year for membership, plus $250 a year to store a boat. Only members can store a boat. The normal route to membership requires coming to several of the open houses and work days that we hold from May to September, in order to demonstrate paddling ability and a willingness to help with the upkeep of the club. New members are normally admitted in the fall. We are located near the north end of Manhattan Island, a mile above the George Washington Bridge (hence not convenient for most of the DTBH's clientele). Our web site is inwoodcanoeclub.org, and it will show our open-house schedule next spring. Y'all please come visit us -- it's a beautiful place to paddle. Well, some of it is :)
