Hi,

I am looking for help with one more swim race. It is this Sunday 9/17
across the Verrazano Narrows. See www.cibbows.org for details.

The race is around 1:00PM, but the exact start time will be determined by
the Coast Guard based on harbor traffic. It is only 35 swimmers, and they
have been screened so they should be fairly fast, around 1 hour. They are
starting from Ft. Wadsworth on Staten Island and will swim to Brooklyn,
then come back via motor boat.

This part of the river can be challenging if its windy, but we will be
there at slack tide, which should make it a little calmer.

I am paddling down with a group from the Downtown Boathouse at 56th St. We
can pick-up people at Pier 40 or anywhere else in the Harbor. We will
leave the Boathouse at 8:00AM. I have a few kayaks to lend out if anyone
needs to borrow one. You can also drive. If you drive you need to go to
Staten Island, contact me back channel for detailed directions.

Unlike other swims this is not a public beach. After the race we will
return to the Staten Island side and be treated to lunch. Since it is
federal property there will even be free beer! We will probably not be
back at the Boathouse until 3:00 or 4:00PM.
