NYCkayaker Mayors Cup Spectator info

Thanks.

Someone sent me a link to a course "map". I see they are going clockwise.

I've never heard of a clockwise circ before, although looking at the current charts it seems workable. Why isn't it done clockwise more often?

Is there a "official" VHF channel that the organizers will be using, perhaps calling out progress?

How fast do these guys go on flat water anyway? Five knots? Six?

So, 3ish knot flood in the Hudson the morning of the 8th, that puts them at Spuyten Dyuvil at about 9:15 or 9:30 or maybe a bit later assuming that slower paddlers start first, right?

Anyone want to launch from Englewood to watch as they enter the Harlem River?

starts and finishes at North Cove Marina.

8am is the first flight and proceeding flights until 9:30am it will be flights of 5 paddlers per flight.

The paddlers will travel north around the island.

Spectator spots might be pier 96, the baseball fiels at 72 street. 79th street boat basin. Battery Park will be the best!!!! It is the finish line where everyone will be watching the race.

  thanks

Where can one find info on the Mayor's cup? The http://www.nywaterfest.org/mayors_cup.html web site tells the world that we are having the world class event.

  It doesn't tell you:

  Where it starts/finishes.

  What time it starts.

Where good spots to spectate might be?

Will it be a mass start? Start by class? Individual start every minute?

On Oct 9 the organizers will probably be wondering why nobody noticed.
