NYCkayaker public hearing Pier 40 proposals 5/3

some of you may have looked at the information on the 2 proposals for the
redevelopment of pier 40 on the hudson river park website when i posted the
link a few weeks ago.  they are quite different from one another.
this will be one of the 2 major redevelopment projects within hudson river
park and will affect all park users, boaters, members of the public, etc.
if you have the chance, please have a look at the info on the trust's
website and make your opinions known.
even if this is not directly and specifically about boating, it is our
waterfront and they need to hear from this community.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING:
Pier 40 in Hudson River Park
May 3, 2007

Please take notice that there will be a joint Public Meeting and Hearing of
the Hudson River Park Trust, the Advisory Council of the Hudson River Park
Trust, and Manhattan Community Board 2 regarding the proposals for the
redevelopment of Pier 40.

DATE:    Thursday, May 3, 2007

TIME:    7:00 PM

LOCATION:    PS 41
            West 11th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues

Proposals for the redevelopment of Pier 40, which is generally located on
the Hudson River at West Houston Street, were received in response to a
Request for Proposals ("RFP") initiated by the Trust in August 2006. A copy
of the RFP, along with a description of the Pier 40 selection process to
date, is available on the Trust's web site: www.hudsonriverpark.org.
Beginning on April 19th, the Trust will post additional information
regarding the proposals on its web site.  Materials will also be displayed
in the lobby of Pier 40, which is located at West Street and West Houston
Street.  These materials will remain on display through close of business on
Tuesday, June 19, 2007.
Written comments will be given equal consideration by the Hudson River Park
Trust and may be submitted through June 19, 2007. Comments should be sent to
Noreen Doyle, Hudson River Park Trust, Pier 40 – 2nd floor, West Street @
West Houston Street, New York, NY 10014.  Alternatively, comments may also
be emailed to comments at hrpt.state.ny.us prior to June 19. The Pier 40 Public
Hearing is being conducted in compliance with the requirements of the Hudson
River Park Act with respect to significant actions, in addition to any
relevant requirements of Manhattan Community Board 2.
