Dear Fellow Paddlers,
Four of us had a great trip to the Florida Keys this past Mar.11-18.
The trip was organized by Bill Menke and me. We drove non-stop to Ft.Lauderdale in 20 hrs.(I drove 12 straight hrs!) where we were graciously invited to crash at Jerry Blackstone and Michael Skaar's double condo. Mike treated us to a great breakfast after our much needed rest. At around 11 am we cotinued on another 2 hrs. to Key Largo, which was the 1st stop on our itinerary.
We paddled/drove our way through the remaining keys and left Key West Sun. morn to arrive back in NY in 24 and1/2 hrs! Must be some kind of record, but hey, we had 4 drivers.
We all chipped in for gas tolls and campsite fees and the total came to around $250/person.
For more detailed description, click on the link below. On the opening page (the conch republic flag) click on index and look to the right. Click on journal entry for a written log of the trip and enjoy the photos.
Thank you Steve Blumling, Andy Mellion, Kim Palmer, Bill Menke,
And Jerry and Mike. You all helped to make our trip a great success!
  Lee Reiser
