Greetings from Vancouver, BC.... Just tooling around here in Canada, eh, for
a few weeks, sailing and trying out some homemade kayaks before had back
east. But I just couldn¹t resist.... Hey, the three best kayaks.....
Hmmm... That¹s tough because a kayak is supposed to fit you, and since we
are all different sizes and shapes what works for me may not work for
you.... That¹s why it is always a good idea to try out many different kayaks
before purchasing one.... I have two kayaks which work for me very well. The
Impex Force 4, which at 18 feet and about 20 1/2 inch beam, tracks excellent
and responds exceptionally well for such a long boat, and the Impex
Currituck, 17 feet long and about an inch wider, which reminds me of the
Valley Pintail, a very squirrelly boat that seems to have a mind of its own
‹ but it is a lot of fun... However, after trying Jack G¹s SOF, I am dying
to construct a skin Baidarka..... I tried the Outer Island and I hated it.
Not because it is a bad kayak... But it just didn¹t fit me, and I found it
very uncomfortable....

Hopefully my shoulder will heal (hurt the left rotator cuff about a week
ago) in another week or or two and I can take a long paddle and try out my
friend¹s own design.... So, the answer is there is no best kayak... Except
the one that works for you.... That¹s why there are so many kayaks and
models out there....

So, I love my two Impex kayaks .. But they are very different from one
another.. Go figure... Are they the best for me???? Who knos??? Probably a
SOF baidarka is the best for me.....

Good luck on your survey
