NYCkayaker One more time... List Rules

Folks,

Several list subscribers are not following the rules. These are rules
of the list processor, not the message content rules.

Addressing:

When sending to the NYCKayaker list you cannot include the list
address in a range of addresses... for example you can't send a
message to a bunch of friends and then CC the list or BCC the list.
Also, you can't send to the list and then CC or BCC a bunch of
friends. If you want to post to the list you must send to the list
and the list alone.

You must send messages to the list from a subscribed address. If you
have lots of addresses, or you just added a gmail account or you
can't remember which address is subscribed just go ahead and
subscribe them all. You'll get multiple copies of each message, but
at least you will be able to send a reply no matter where you are or
what computer you're using.

These are all rules set up to combat spam.

Attachments:

In a word: Don't. The maximum message size is very small, any
attached images will go over that limit. Rather than include an
attachment to a news story or photos send the URL to the list and
explain why others might be interested. If the document you want to
share is not online send a message to the list asking if anybody
would be interested in "x" and then send the file directly to those
who reply.

This rule is set up to cut down on bandwidth costs for the list host
and to address copyright issues.

Questions? Comments? All y'all know where to find me :-)
