Hawaii: Ferry Cancels Its Run

The Hawaii Superferry canceled its trip from Honolulu to Kauai at the
request of Gov. Linda Lingle, who said she was worried about public safety
after a protest in the water the day before stopped the ferry from docking.
The ferry, which began operating Sunday, was turned away from Kauai on
Monday night by about 65 protesters on surfboards, kayaks and canoes. Coast
Guard vessels tried to clear the way, but after three hours, the ferry
returned to Honolulu. A judge has temporarily blocked the ferry's other
service to Maui over environmental concerns.
