NYCkayaker Conn. Death, Dry Suits, Liability and Barriers

I think that last centimeter happens to everybody 1 time (only) with a DUI
dry suit. I remember when I did that on a dive on the San Diego or Oregon, I
felt the leakage on the way down, I continued and completed the dive. Water
is neutral in water as far as buoyancy, I believe it was an after labor day
dive, when the dry suit wasn't really necessary in the water but more
comfortable in the cool air on the boat and especially for redoning for
the second dive.
I wonder if a torso style immersion suit would work over a dry suit or
wetsuit.
Keep on the deck, you get in trouble and are out of the boat, don the
immersion torso suit in the water and then work on getting back in the
boat.
When ascending mountains below tree line it is rare to put on a shell or
Gore-Tex, except for stops. I now use a down parka over everything for
stops rather than a shell, works so much warmer than a shell.
Recent Improvements like the waist belt co2 inflatable pfd work great where
normal pfd's are too hot or restrictive in many cases.
Dry suit design for kayaking need to be rethought. The issue of a hooded
style That Chalu Kim brings up is huge.
