NYCkayaker Death, Dry Suits, Liability and Barriers

Your point of calling this a frivolous lawsuit without any first hand
knowledge is correct. Speaking for myself, I only know what I have read
in the newspaper, a source of information that is usually questionable.
I am jumping to a conclusion without all or even most of the facts. However
this is only a discussion and no actions, legal or otherwise, are being
taken based on this conversation.

This is not the proper venue for a discussion in health care, nor do
I want to fall in that rat hole either. Kayaking first aid is always
an interesting topic.

As for the snow, thanks for the offer but I have 2 trucks that are still
buried in my driveway. All you can see of one are the kayak J bars sticking
up through the snow.

NYCKayaker:

The lawsuit by the widow or the estate of the dopey, dead kite
surfer is not a "frivolous lawsuit" simply because a bunch of folks on
NYCKayaker say so.

There has yet to appear anyone who has no first hand knowledge of
the events or the pleadings or the parties etc. say that is frivolous.
What you folks have said is a bit absurd: because of what you read in a
newspaper account of what happened and the litigation that you think the
lawsuit is absurd. Great analysis there! Based on a newspaper account,
or accounts of accounts in a newspaper ...... [The closest to first
hand was pointed out by Bonnie A. in a letter from some other kite
surfers that day. But, then I ask how many people have been convicted
based on eyewitness testimony that was 'mistaken' or exagerated or plain
wrong? Too many.]

So, my question heading down this next rat hole of a conversation line is:

What is "socialized" (or bad) about everyone having health care
coverage?

Why does universal health insurance coverage equal socialized medicine?

Plain and simple. ........ and, in an effort to cut off any further
discussions: for this list let's try to stay on task - kayaking, that is
what it is about here. If any of you are feeling a bit edgy and would
like to want to get "tough" then I say go to the gym (or come to my
house and shovel snow!) - Richard
