NYCkayaker Seal pup killed crossing road in long beach island

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A gray seal pup's journey from Canada to
Long Beach Island ended when it was struck and killed while crossing a
road. The seal had wandered over the dunes and was crossing the
northbound lanes of Long Beach Boulevard. The seal almost reached the
median when it was hit on Tuesday night. National Marine Fisheries agent
Scott Doyle told The Press of Atlantic City it's the first time in 20
years that he's seen a seal on the road.


Officials are investigating the death to determine whether it was an
accident. It's a crime to harass or intentionally kill
