Hi - this is too good not to throw out there, trying to judge the general interest in attending the next & final Tribeca boathouse design meeting!
I just got off the phone with Julie Nadel - she sounds very excited about the ideas that are bouncing around from the Tribeca boathouse design task force meetings, and she's scheduling a final one that will happen in around 2 weeks. At that one, there's going to be a review of a recommendations document that's being produced from written commentary that's been submitted, some excerpts from a community survey that asked people what they liked about the old Pier 25 & 26, and notes on the discussions on both meetings. May include some possible ideas for interim storage solutions (such as shipping containers like the ones in use now at Sebago & at New York Kayak).
The idea is that after the next meeting, CB 1 goes to the Trust with a document that doesn't just criticize the current plan, but offers some viable alternatives.
This final meeting could be pretty interesting - and it's possible that the results could serve to change the tone of the Trust's approach to river access - what happens in Tribeca could then have an effect on what happens in other neighborhoods, down the road - I believe there's at LEAST one more major boathouse in the plans. Julie's thinking it could be fairly large, she's considering lining up a larger room, I asked if she'd like me to check for interest among my circles & she said that would be helpful - she doesn't want to line up a large room & then not have anybody attend, that just looks bad.
I'm just after a rough head count here. Question is: Do you think you'd attend this meeting? It'll be on a weekday, in the evening, won't take time off from an average work day.
DTBH, I know you guys have been attending these, maybe Jim or Tim could get a similar headcount among your specific group, I'll try to get a feel for how many outside that group would want to go?
To cut down on the length of the digests & quantity of emails, maybe just hit reply to me instead of reply all. I will not be saving names, just counting of the "Yes, I'll try to make it" replies. - if you do hit reply-all, please remember the discussion about deleting the message to which you're responding, except specific excerpts which you're directly addressing! Could get messy otherwise...
