Hi All-
This will be the Yonkers Paddling & Rowing Club's
first 2007 presentation, to be held Thursday, Feb. 8
at 8PM, at the Beczak Environmental education Center,
on the Hudson River in Yonkers, NY.
There will be a slide presentation and talk by Turner
Wilson and Cheri Perry about their trip to Greenland
to compete in Greenland's traditional kayak festival.
The festival is an annual cultural event that revolves
around one of the Artctic peoples' most important
hunting tools, the kayak. The kayak and the required
paddling skills were almost lost to Greenlanders
during the 20th century as contact with Europeans and
climate changes, made previous cultural norms,
obsolete.
This is open to the public - anyone who would be
interested in adventure travel. A $15, deductable and
voluntary contribution would be appreciated, but not
required- whatever you can afford is great.
Hope to see you then.
Jerry Borenstein
