Hi All,
In my research for founding a World Boatbuilding Museum (Chris Ockler of
East River ApprenticeShop directs all construction), I came across very
funky-looking Australian Aboriginal boats, which were featured in a film
called "Ten Canoes." They really look a bit like stealth fighters:

If this doesn't come up for you, try a web image search for "Ten Canoes."
The producer kindly sent me a 1930 anthropological journal article
describing their construction. If you're interested, drop me a note back
channel and I'll send it along. I have also inquired at the NY Botanical
Gardens regarding North American equivalents to the flora listed as
resources for the boat construction. I'll share those results with
interested parties.
As a side note, I'll share more information about the World Boatbuilding
Museum with anyone who wants details back channel. We certainly could
benefit from allies eager to link this effort with expertise, resources,
and funds.
Thanks!
Erik
