The snowy owl may have been officially ³reported² by the Rockland Audubon
Society, but this lovely bird has been on this side of the Hudson for a
month now. Not only does it hunt rodents (rats, mice, squirrels, rabbits)
but it also hunts other birds. In fact, it killed a coot (the only one I
have seen for awhile in the area) and left the head on the pier. It¹s an
amazing and beautiful bird. This bird tends to roost and hunt in the day .
I¹ve been watching it for hours several times a week and try to find it once
a day.

Actually, there was a snowy owl here about three years ago and it hung
around for about a week. This one has been around for a month now. What is
amazing is that it came down during such a warm winter.
