NYCkayaker City Island, Juny 7

Looks like we're on for next week's City Island trip!

Our group will be slower, so Jerry wisely suggested that we cross Hell
Gate together and then separate. An acquaintance's son works in a City
Island restaurant, facing Orchard Beach, so we might make special
arrangements there.

This is a very fun trip, but please keep in mind that wind conditions
can be challenging off the notable fetch of the Long Island Sound.

If City Parks permits are a concern for anyone (employees of Parks and
Partnerships for Parks read postings on this list), the LIC Community
Boathouse has a contract with that agency and Socrates Sculpture Park
regarding launching from Hallets Cove. I've asked our local rep if we
should put paddlers launching from there for this trip under that
policy.

This is an exciting trip! :)

Best regards,

Erik

PS: Jerry blasted me over grammar. I meant to type "join us in joining"
in the last note, playfully acknowledging our participants' status as
two-steps removed from the inception of this plan. I post most
submissions via wi-fi from loud and chaotic sidewalks (cross-legged on
one now), cafes, etc. So Jerry, be patient! :)
