I realize hypothermia is not on everyone's mind this time of year, but it is a perennial concern
in these waters and at any time of year for those who might be paddling in more northern climes. 

Every cloud has a silver lining and it appears global warming is reducing the risk of hypothermia.
  This was proven a few days ago by Lewis Gordon Pugh, who swam at the North Pole for 18 minutes
wearing nothing but Speedos, goggles and a swim cap.
