Hello. I'm posting the info for The Paulus Hook Parks Conservancy folks...so please contact them directly if you have any questions or if your organization would like to support this effort. mike.maurer1 at yahoo.com
(Besides-Mike Mauer wants to start kayaking....so-- the more of you that meet him-the better.) Looks like....This Jersey thing is out of control...
And- Jersey City is on a park space saving roll.
First--- The Jersey City Reservoir was preserved.....now this! You can help save even more of Jersey City!--- by paddling around and around and around. This time in the Morris Canal-an afternoon paddle for a good cause... Maybe swing by, show off your nice kayak- and paddling skills...and have lunch at "The Sandbar" right there in the Canal...or whatever.
*(I know you're saying to yourself-I don't want any part of NJ saved....But--admit it....You know you secretly land on the Jersey side...I've witnessed it. Don't be ashamed. It's not good to hold secrets in like that...)
I'll be paddling out of the DTBH. It will be an early afternoon trip....We'll be hanging for a few hours at the Morris Canal and heading back to the DTBH. If you would like to join me -that would be lovely...
please contact me back channel.
*Also-on a really good note-and and a whole new New Jersey topic!
** I guess I feel secure enough to announce this now...
It looks like The Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse will receive some major funding from The Hudson County Open Trust Fund Grant for a lovely community boathouse-that will be located on the Hoboken side of the Weehawken Cove! It might take a year or two-but it's getting there now.
So-**Thanks to anyone- and everyone- *Especially the Downtown Boathouse-
and all the hundreds of hard working people that helped us get this far! Sandy

> The Paulus Hook Parks Conservancy, is a downtown Jersey City
> community group that is trying to develop and connect the
> waterfront greenspace running from the Goldman Sachs building south
> and west along the little Morris Canal Basin and the Peninsula
> Park. You may or may not be familiar with the area -- it seems to
> be pretty popular with kayakers, and at one time was considered as
> a kayak launch site by the city.
> On Saturday afternoon, June 23, there is going to be a community
> party to raise awareness of the conservancy's objectives, and we
> thought that having some kayaks in the water would be a nice way of
> highlighting the potential of that portion of the waterfront. If
> your organization, or individuals from your organization, would be
> interested in kayaking around in the Morris Canal basin that
> afternoon, we'd love to have you.
