Dear Members,
  I saw this on the CPAkayaker listserve.
For anyone planning to paddle in cold water without proper gear, ie. wet/drysuit. vhf & cell phone, Just don't do it. Read this heart wrenching story. First link is the accident description. Second link is a letter from the survivor about his best friend, the victim.
  I would feel guilty by not tellig some one they were ill prepared if the outcome was to be this or anything less.

As with any story like this, it's easy to make judgments and second guess.
However this particular story was a bit close to home; the survivor in this
case is a friend of a friend.  Read Brandon's letter for the first person
perspective of what happened.
