Tom.,
My Canon G7 goes in a Pelican water tight case with spare battery and extra
memory.
Here a pictures of all pelican cases :
http://www.pelican-case.com/cases.html They come in all sizes and you have
to find the one that fits best.
I use the http://www.pelican-case.com/1120.html as you can see for about $
30.
Here is a picture of it on the front of the kayak. Bear in mind that it
looks bigger in this shot than it actually is. I was more focused on the
Beluga whale swimming under my kayak.
I put a bungee on the front, drilled a couple of holes and fastened a thin
rope in the back of the case and clip both to the top of the kayak. Camera
is always ready with a unsnapping of the locks. Only problem is when
conditions are rough it is tough to take pictures, but then you are usually
too busy anyway.
An other solution is getting a new water proof camera such as the Pentax
Optio: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0702/07022103pentaxw30.asp There a
several models available for around $ 250.
Ewa marine makes a selection of flexible plastic housings that are not cheap
but less expensive than hard cases
http://www.ewa-marine.com/english/index.htm
Finally if you want to spend the money, there are specific canon hard
plastic cases that you can see at:
http://store.aikotradingstore.com/canonhousings1.html
The one for the A70 http://store.aikotradingstore.com/wpdc700.html at $
210 is not cheep.
Hope that helps!
Regards,
Mo
