In the past weeks an increased desire to add ideas,
locations, and thoughts to the Guide has been
expressed.
I would like to clarify this term Guide a bit.
The Hudson Water Trail Association publishes a Water
Trail Guide 6th Edition. The guide covers from above
Albany to NYC. This guide should not be confused with
the proposed NYC Water Trail guide being created by
NYC Parks.
Keeping our guide (HRWA), up to date is no small
task. I will not attempt to name all the persons who
made this river bible possible. That would be a task
in itself. A task dwarfed only by the creation of the
guide itself.
The HRWA guide comes free with a membership to HRWA to
which I invite everyone on the list to do. The guide
that has been talked about of late concerns the newly
proposed NYC Water Trail. Those folks have requested
assistance from various organizations in creation of
their project. HRWA has been one of those asked to
assist. The Metropolitan Region Director for HRWA,
Nancy Brous, has spent an enormous amount of her
personal time and effort to assist in that ongoing
project.
HRWA invites all its members to it meetings by way of
this list as well as on other lists. At these meetings
we discuss on going paddling projects in many areas.
Please feel free to attend these meetings as all in
the paddling community benefit when we work together.
The thoughts expressed lately all have merit. Putting
these thoughts together in a well formulated guide it
very important , but many things must be considered
and verified.
Expressing your ideas and thoughts concerning the
paddling community is what NYC Kayaker is about, and
that I feel should continue in any case. For accurate
information on the on going project contact Nancy as
Im sure she will be able to head you in the proper
direction.
Again as always I invite everyone to join HRWA and to
attend our meetings. I have heard some wonderful
ideas on the list and would love to see some of them
come to fruition.
