I don't know if Gerry Blackstone mentioned this in last post about the Edgewater parrot spot...
There are many cool restaurants there. The town is very happy to open the spot to kayakers now...They are letting kayakers land at the marina north of the Edgewater ferry spot. You'll see the big white tent for the ferry. Land north of that in the empty marina side. They just want us to use it on Saturday and Sunday as of now-but thanks to Alison Evans Fragale (the parrot lady/kayaker)... and thanks to a few favorite Yonkers paddlers---there will probably be a kayak launch there very soon. We had a nice sunset paddle up there. It was Saturday also. We had the parrot tour too, and everyone picked a different spot to dine...then paddled back in the dark. It was lovely.
There is a great Cuban Cafe, a Mexican Restaurant, a nice Bagel-Deli spot, Japanese Food, a little Chinese take-out, a cool Italian bakery and even a gas station general store. You just have to use the high docks for now-and hop the low gate and walk right across the street. The ferry building is usually open and has nice clean restrooms. We love to go to this location. We are big fans of the little green guys flying all over like stealth planes. It's part of our DTBH world now...
