  Thanks for the clarification.
   
  One of the reasons for my inquiry was that I never claimed to "know" but only relied on what "seems" to be the case from speaking with others, or checking the MIMS website: for example, 57 power boats, 61 kayakers, 25 swimmers this year.  (OK, I didn't count the 15 relay teams.)
   
  I'll listen for more feedback, but I'm not convinced that, during the excitement of the race, power boaters will maintain a sensitivity to wind direction.  And if I seem too obsessed with air quality, that's because asthmatics like myself are advised to take precautions.
   
  Adding "cigarette" boats to the debate is so ironic when the website says that volunteers are still needed.
