This is a day without villains in spite of several efforts to assign blame.
 Kayakers don't like the powerboats; and I am told they feel the same 
about us.
It's a big river and we all get to use it; which is how it should be.
If anyone is in the wrong it may be the governmental agency which 
approved  having two utterly dissimilar events on the same day.
And to those who say MIF is uncaring or unaware about safety, well you 
are simply wrong.
Immense efforts have been expended to insure the safety of all 
participants. The Coast Guard and the Police closely monitor the 
progress of the event. They are in literally constant contact with the 
event throughout the day.
Whatever mistakes made in the past have been endlessly discussed  and 
corrected.
It may be time to bury this canard.
