In spite of all the real objections to the cigarette boats which I 
certainly share
they had minimal effect on the MIMS race which ran without a hitch or a 
problem with the exception of a thunderstorm. This was not due to the 
powerboats but to the welcome efforts of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the 
NYFD and NYPD boats which shooed them away from us when needed.
