Tim,

Thanks for this. A few of us from floating the apple who now live in
brooklyn will be at this meeting. I think our main priority is to push for
usable landing and launch sites at regular intervals throughout the park.
But we¹re also interested in finding a place‹a boathouse or even just a
shipping container‹to base a couple of our gigs and start up a brooklyn
operation (there used to be one in red hook but it shut down due to access
issues). We¹ve also been talking a bit about building a new, slightly
smaller boat specifically designed for the east river‹a fast double/triple,
maybe with sliding seats. In any case, I think we¹d be very interested in a
mixed-use community boathouse (or two) that would serve both the paddling
and rowing communities.

What¹s happening with the plans for the Œsafe boating area¹? I read graeme¹s
analysis of the one that was originally proposed, and thought it made a
pretty good case for abandoning the whole idea.
