NYCKayaker,
    Sure, the USCG are just a bunch of boyos with nothing better to do 
than to set down ridiculous rules interfering with kayakers rights to 
paddle anywhere and everywhere and whenever they like. One almost can 
wonder what the USCG does during the day when they are not beating up 
the kayaking community.

    Please, just a bit of balance and perspective about the process. The 
USCG is dealing with more than this particular event.

*Coast Guard Kept Busy*
U.S. Coast Guard | *August 28, 2007*
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Coast Guard units in New Jersey are being kept 
busy today with various cases, including three medevacs, a flare 
sighting and a disabled boat.

*Medevac #1:*

Brian Holoman, 30, fell approximately 10 feet into a fishing hold while 
aboard the 90-foot fishing boat Janice Lanelle
Incident occurred about 33 miles east of Atlantic City.
HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic 
City is responding.
Holoman is being flown to the trauma center at AtlantiCare Regional 
Medical Center here.

*Medevac #2:*

60-year-old male was unconscious and unresponsive about 31 miles 
east-southeast of Ocean City, Md., while aboard the sport fishing boat 
Blue Collar Man.
A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Ocean City and an HH-65C 
Dolphin helicopter rescue crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic 
City responded.
Patient was flown to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, 
Md., at about 9 a.m. today.

*Flare sighting:*

Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light, N.J., received a report of three 
yellow flares off Holgate, N.J.
A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light and an HH-65C 
Dolphin helicopter rescue crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic 
City are searching.
Anyone with any further information on this flare sighting is encouraged 
to contact their nearest Coast Guard unit.

*Disabled boat:*

The Coast Guard Cutter Mako, homeported in Cape May, is en route to the 
74-foot fishing boat Tridan 1 after the fishing boat's engine failed 
about 32 miles east of Cape May.
The Coast Guard lost radio communications with the fishing boat.
