NYCkayaker Suggestions for German kayakers in NYC area?

Dear list members,
 
we (Sonja and me) are avid kayakers from Hamburg, Germany (sea kayaking as
well as kayaking on everything else that's water). We will be visiting NYC
9/29 - 10/02 and stay in New England (ME, VT, NH) afterwards until 10/13.
Some of the tours we made in the past can be found on the homepage of our
Hamburg kayaking club (www.wv-suederelbe.de). We are paddling at levels 4
and 5, repectively (out of 5) of the European Paddle Pass system.
 
What we are looking for:
- Suggestions for a tour (probably one-day trip) in or around NYC (or in New
England)
- Since we do obviously not have all our equipment with us, either a
kayaking club that can help us out or a kayak rental place you can recommend
- Maybe someone who is interested in paddling with us
