I've read every message in the Coast Guard thread with interest. The topic is entirely within the scope of the list. The few transgressions of the bounds of civility have been very mild by any standard, especially the Internet standard. I would be happy to see more on the issue.

I disagree that the thread should be terminated because there exist people who think it has gone on too long. This is not an announce-only list.

I just received this message back channel,
I think it speaks for itself. Ban me, but I have no use for a list that restrict relevant communications on NY harbor kayak related matters.
  “HRWA and it is this
association that provides this list as a paddles place
to meet and find places to paddle. I can appreciate
your feelings regarding the USCG however they are the
deciding factor in the port / harbor of NY.  If you
wish to continue a discussion within this subject
range please continue it with that agency. This
subject has been fully covered. If you wish to
continue this discussion "back channel" with me please
do not hesitate.”

Thank you for your cooperation in this mater.
