sent the original. It's been reformatted by me, because it tripped
three different filters on the list: membership, size, and number of
addressees. ;-) But after finding this in the moderator queue, it
appeared to me that this was timely and needed to get through. So what
I've done is to convert the original attachment -- a 60K Word document --
to 1.6K of text and append it. I've pretty much preserved the formatting
in doing so, so I think it'll be intelligible.

City of Water Day Planning Meeting
April 7, 2008
1. Theme: From parks to jobs to education and recreation our harbor
and waterways are huge and diverse. Governors Island is at the
center of it all.
The centerpiece of the event is a confluence of paddlers and
rowers from all the great rivers and estuaries of the five
boroughs and the region. Food will be delivered via water.
Free boating and other educational opportunities will be available
for Governors Island visitors and paddlers/ rowers alike; ferries
and water taxis will provide transit from many different places.
2. Event Date: Saturday, July 26, 2008 (confirm Rain Date)
3. Program (invite additional program partners for next meeting)
- Paddling and rowing and sailing clubs (confirm list)
- Ferry Transit bringing island visitors from new places (tent)
- Historic / Educational Ship tie-ups/ sails (tent)
- Thematic Boat Tours (Working Harbor, Harbor Herons, etc) (confirmed)
- Dugout Canoe making (tent)
- Music (confirmed)
- Fishing (confirmed)
4. Logistics
Landside facilities: space for boats, bathrooms, food / beverage,
other island programs
(will need volunteers)
On-water facilities: DTBH and MWA floating docks
Pier access (report from Island visit)
Registration/ Signing-Up
Clubs will provide list; $10/ head; Cut off date (?)
