Hi All:
Good News from Yonkers, NY.
AFFORDABLE KAYAK STORAGE. NO WAITING LIST. NO WORK REQUIREMENT.
Yonkers Mayor Phillip Amicone will be at the JFK Marina Kayak/Canoe Storage
Facility (Kennedy Boathouse) on Tues April 22 at 1 PM for a "ribbon cutting"
ceremony. This event will officially "open" the Kennedy Boathouse.
Kennedy Boathouse was built last summer by the City of Yonkers with the
assistance of NY State. The City has licensed the Yonkers Paddling and Rowing
Club to operate this facility.
This opening of the Kennedy Boathouse will coincide with Earth Day 2008.
Can there be a better occasion for the Mayor of Yonkers to open a facility
for HUMAN POWERED BOATING than on EARTH DAY 2008 ??????
The annual berth rental fee will be $200.
For this you'll have 24 hour access to Kennedy Boathouse
You'll be able to wash your boat down with fresh water--right on site.
And, if you want a locker--add $25..
Picking up or dropping off your boat at the Kennedy Boathouse will be easy.
Just pull your car right up to the roll-up door.
You can launch your kayak right from the ramp at the northern end of Kennedy
Marina into a rather protective cove on the Hudson River.
Park your car for free while you enjoy the Hudson River right at JFK Marina
Or car-top your kayak to points near or far such as to Jamaica Bay, Cold
Spring or Orchard Beach etc, etc., etc.
Kennedy Marina can be reached from NYC with a 25 minute train ride on the
Metro North Hudson Line.
Get off the train at the Glenwood Station in Yonkers. Kennedy Boathouse is a
short walk from the station.
For the moment we have lots of available berths. This situation will not
last for long !!!!
The folks who rent first will be able to pick the best spots--the lower
choice spots--for their storage
Some folks may want to FIRST rent the berth and then go boat shopping for
their first boat or for that additional boat.
At the Kennedy Boathouse you can build your own boat.
Jack Gilman is setting up a Boat Building Shop--right on site !!!
So, if you wish, you can first rent the space. Then build the boat.
Renting a storage berth at the Kennedy Boathouse will be open to ALL without
regard to club membership.
So you can be a member of any kayak club or NO kayak club.
And, both residents and non-residents of Yonkers will be treated the same.
