Ahoy'all,
I'm happy to report that the LIC Community Boathouse and Nature Calendar
have a table at the Earth Day gathering at Grand Central, and we would like
to share it with other boathouses in the harbor.
Some boathouses might already have tables, or perhaps the NYC Department of
Parks and Recreation or Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance does. But if not,
we would be happy to neatly stack literature from other groups so that we
might direct visitors to paddling spots near their home or work. Ironically,
we haven't gotten ours printed yet!
Ideally, this is how I envision the set-up. A large LICCB banner behind the
table and the NYC Water trail life ring and logo prop in front. On the table
we can have a laptop or lrager screen displaying a slide show of images from
boathouses from around the harbor, say 5-10 each with a title page.
We hope to have at least two or three people at the table at any given time,
working two hour shifts. As you know, questions and answers about the harbor
tend to get detailed, and we don't want to lose anyone waiting in line. If
you'd like to participate, please drop me a note with our volunteer chair,
Jane Rain (ajanerain at that jolly old gmail dot com) CCed.
Thanks!
Salty regards,
Erik
