Communications with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and
Historic Preservation have improved, but we have a long way to go before
they allow true, steady water access. A bunchy of us are hoping to start
first with landings at the park -- the LIC Community Boathouse and Red Hook
Boaters are ideally suited to making this kind of visit. Then event days,
with boats brought to the site to prove the popularity and principle. And
then allow a native movement to grow.
