Thanks bonnie for clearing that up! I really didn't know what lee was
talking about.
Yes a comma was missed. ! But the message hasn't changed. The yonkers
commodore in conjunction with the board ask
"We hope that all of our members will write letters as citizens of Yonkers
and the Hudson Valley, and as individuals with a stake in keeping the Hudson
River waterways open to human powered boats. We all have an opportunity to
play a role in the stewardship of our best resource, the Hudson River."
And
"I want to assure you all that the board is in agreement on all fronts and
that we are a unified voice for the membership. We encourage you all to
continue to voice your opinions and ideas on the list or to individual board
members if you prefer. And we urge you to follow the issues as this
situation evolves."
And also to answer Mr. Reiser question as far as sewage and water, the
hooks up could be used by anyone, a public bathroom , a marina operation.

The yprc people that try and hush up this as a simple oversight, are very
mistaken or too worried about the promised construction of a building
that may house a boat building workspace and public kayak storage at JFK
marina. Many car focused people may prefer the JFK for ease of vehicle
accessibility , that has nothing to do with the YCC/yprc club. That funding
for the canoe storage and buildings is from a Watertrail state grant.
The drafter of the DGEIS is AKRF. They also did the DGEIS for the
gateway/hunts point / Yankee stadium project.
The FEIS comments to the draft plan are posted here
http://www.nyc.gov/html/oec/downloads/pdf/BTM_26_Response_to_Comments.pdf
The comments and answers show how much work AKRF did to support their draft
. The city of Yonkers can change the plan that is the purpose of the written
comment period.
I hope to find from AKRF where they got the YCC information.
The canoe club is small beans in the big scope, but international opinion on
the YCC right to remain part of the waterfront and not get gentrified out
will play a important part. Also the DGEIS failure to follow the NYS
Hudson guidelines for preserving significant cultural and historical
buildings along the waterfront. Yonkers has also not published its Local
Waterfront Revitalization Program as required by the state; I am not sure if
this waterfront renewal plan can go forward without it. it is in a draft
state but cannot be found online, by law there will be a 60-day comment
period.
I am sure it will be quietly released and tried to be snuck by. I will call
for info on these plans this week
" Posted Date: 7/2/2007 The LWRP study encompasses the entire 4.5 miles of
waterfront on the Hudson River and adjacent upland. The development of this
conceptual plan will assist the City in both planning and implementation of
sustained growth and beneficial use of the waterfront."
There is so much environmental problems on this DGEIS plan that do not fit
in with the Hudson valley proposed preservation, the yonkers Alex street
master plan is opposite of all the plan 2025's including Westchester plan
2025 issued Jan 22 2008,
http://www.westchestergov.com/w2025.htm
7000 space parking garage are not supposed to go on the riverfront in the.
Traffic calming is supposed to be implemented in design, developments are
supposed to be designed around public transit, not huge waterfront parking
garages.
So in the big picture the whole development itself is wrong for the Hudson
valley and not plan 2025 usage of the waterfront.

The YPRC board met last night with all but one in attendance. We discussed
the history of the club, the recent history involving the development issues
of a few years ago, and our current status. We planned a response to the
development plan on the table and set in motion a process to address the
problem and come to a resolution within a few short weeks.

I want to assure you all that the board is in agreement on all fronts and
that we are a unified voice for the membership. We encourage you all to
continue to voice your opinions and ideas on the list or to individual board
members if you prefer. And we urge you to follow the issues as this
situation evolves.

We will be writing a position statement and a letter in response to the
plan, following the deadline posted in the following notice to the list
early this week:

"The Alexander Street Master Plan comment period is up to February 20th,
2008. You can submit your written comments to Louis C. Kirven, Yonkers
Community Development Agency, 87 Nepperhan Avenue, Suite 312, Yonkers, NY
10701, or by email to daisy.colon at yonkersny.gov"

We hope that all of our members will write letters as citizens of Yonkers
and the Hudson Valley, and as individuals with a stake in keeping the Hudson
River waterways open to human powered boats. We all have an opportunity to
play a role in the stewardship of our best resource, the Hudson River.

We will keep you informed and hope to see a good turnout at the next board
meeting: Thursday, February 7th at 7 pm. Kate will post the details
including location and directions later in the week.

Best,

Madeline Wilson
Commodore, YPRC
