Yesterday I received an e-mail from Senator Liz Krueger. I have attached it below since this may be of interest to the members of the list that are involved with NYC planning of water access.

CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING:
EAST RIVER DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL
The proposal to redevelop the former Con Edison Waterside properties along First Avenue, between 35th to 41st Streets, is now before the City Council. The sites under consideration compose the largest remaining area of developable land on the East Side of Manhattan. While I support responsible development of the property that adds desperately needed open space, affordable housing, and school facilities to the community, it is absolutely essential that any development not be permitted to overwhelm the surrounding neighborhood and its infrastructure.
The City Council is holding a public hearing on the plan on Monday, February 25th at 3:00 PM in the City Council Chambers. This will be the public's FINAL chance to voice opinions about the proposal and speak out for the needs of our community.
If you wish to testify, you must register with the City Council sergeant when you arrive at the Council's Chambers. If you are unable to testify in person, written comments may be sent to the City Council, Land Use Division, Attn Carol Shine, 250 Broadway, New York, NY 10007.
Please feel free to email liz at lizkrueger.com to obtain a copy of the talking points written by Community Board 6 on the project or if you have any questions.
