The more friendly eyes reading this 600 plus pages plus document the
better.
The whole shoreline and vista is proposed to change.
On further review of the development maps, it looks like the original
development map page 9 had the Yonkers Club outside of the Alexander street
master plan as Jack has correctly brought up. Looking closely at the new
fig 2-4 rendering on page 19, they have changed the angle of the south west
facing azimuth by about 7 degrees, this 7 degree change puts the canoe club
in the master plan.
The private reserved parking in the previous public park at the JFK marina
for powerboat slip patrons is another gem. I finally found the rendering fig
2-3 which shows three powerboat marinas with slips and launches in this
waterfront area. One next to the Beczak seining area and protected natural
shoreline at Beczak Environmental Center. The wording concerning the noise
generated by the new marinas is also terrific. It goes something like this,
the new marinas due to the normal noise of powerboats and jetskis and
typical marina operations is going to be noisy, marinas are typical noisy
that is the way it goes. Locals will have to live with it.
Another missing item for the traffic studies and local impact they failed
to include Odell Avenue and Warburton, which are the main thoroughfare for
the traffic coming from the north.
The master plan included this section from The Hudson River Valley National
Heritage Area Management Plan was updated in 2002, and I do not think the
adding of all these marinas and relocation of the canoe club out of the
downtown area meets these goals.
HUDSON RIVER VALLEY NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA MANAGEMENT PLAN
The Hudson River National Heritage Area was established by Congress in 1996.
In April of
2002, the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area Management Plan was
approved. The
Plan was created by the Hudson River Valley Greenway Communities Council and
the
Greenway Conservancy for the Hudson River Valley with Federal funding to
present
comprehensive recommendations for Hudson River Valley. The goals of the Plan
are as follows:
. Organize the diverse array of nationally significant sites and resources
in New York State's
Hudson River Valley into a comprehensive system of Heritage Sites and
communities.
. Safeguard and enhance the Hudson River Valley's natural and cultural
heritage through
conservation and interpretation of its Heritage Sites.
. Promote and coordinate partnerships among private organizations and public
agencies
whose interests and commitments are consistent with those of the Heritage
Area.
. Foster public access to and understanding of the valley's heritage through
interpretation of
its nationally significant resources and development of collateral material
and guidebooks
for that purpose.
. Encourage local and regional economic activity in the context of Heritage
Area planning and
development.
