Thanks John and many others for sharing your experiences. These have been
useful to me countless times as situations present themselves, usually suddenly
and unexpectedly.
While I'm a relative newcomer to LICCBH and MIF, I'm no stranger to
watersports. I've been around, on, in and under the water since before the training
wheels came off my bike.
Enabling Morty is not my mission, nor is disabling him. I'm enabling
swimmers, promoting human power and using the clean water act.. I'm getting fresh
air, sunshine, exercise and as TomBrooklyn put it, "the satisfaction of a job
well done." I'm learning from others and sharing what I know. Governors last
weekend was my fourth swim with MIF and the first time I got a tee shirt that
fit. They're learning.
It is my privelige to be paired this Saturday with a swimmer who's a real
contender. I'll steer him around the barges and barnickles and help him to
achieve the best possible time. Sixty-two other paddlers are enrolled. Most of
them will, I hope, be chasing us.
Think I'll sign up for Ederle right now, before it's booked up.

Ted Gruber
