NYCkayaker Riverkeeper blog, eagle attack

Bonnie13>>> Wow. They must've been too close. That's a large & sharp
sort of bird to have flying at you.

I had an osprey yelling at me one time, hadn't spotted it's nest & it
was telling me I was too close. I figured it out pretty quickly &
moved away before the bird thought it was necessary to give me
anything but give me a verbal warning. It then proceeded to scare the
living daylights out of a trespassing low-flying cormorant & I bet it
would've given me the same treatment if I'd moved towards the nest
instead of away.
------------------------------------
Just last weekend we had a 12 year old out with us floating under
perched eagles and a nest just like in John's photo. We do that all
the time and the eagles seem perfectly cool with it. Eagles attacking
paddlers? Yow!
best,
Ed
