Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone about some events coming up...

1) Our very own Harry Spitz, local kayaking scene fixture is doing a large
art installation on Governors Island this weekend. I don't know of anyone
doing paddling trips there, but it should be something, even if you come
by ferry.

Forget about the waterfalls this is really really BIG...

The event is part of "Figment NYC - Big art works for airplanes and
helicopters."

They have turned over a huge amount of land to Harry and he will be
drawing large figures, but he won't tell us what, with a chalk marker that
is used for marking off sports fields.

The event is running all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There is a free
ferry to Governors Island that leaves every half hour on the half hour
from lower Manhattan.

2) On 7/26 virtually every paddling group in the city is participating in
the City of Water event sponsored by the MWA where we will all converge on
Governor's Island. Mark your calendar, and check with your local group, or
outfitter for details on how you can participate. I estimate there will be
over 100 human powered boats from all 5 boroughs.

3) On 8/17/2008 I am coordinating the swim support for the Grimaldo's Mile
swim race in Coney Island. This event is always a lot of fun. After the
race we eat a Gourmet lunch, have a few glasses of wine, and do a little
surfing out in Breezy Point. I always need experienced help, so if you are
available please contact me and let me know.

I can arrange transport, and even loan kayaks, for those that don't have a
car, or boat of their own. I'll post another reminder later, but if you
are available, or think you might be please let me know.

Thanks!!!
